Kids in the Kitchen Summer Camp

Cooking Around the World

 

This summer kids can tie-on an apron and take over the kitchen at A NEW DAWN cooking school in Whole Foods Market-Northbrook! Students will take a culinary trip around the world, with stops to pick up cooking and safety skills, and confidence in the kitchen along the way.  Using the highest quality, freshest, all-natural ingredients, campers will explore regional cuisine and customs from all over the globe as they work hands-on with instructors to prepare (and eat!) delicious dishes from around the world. On the last day of camp, students will host a feast for their invited guests to show off their newfound culinary talents. Campers will have gallons of fun while learning solid cooking fundamentals and healthy eating habits and leave with the skills and confidence to make delectable meals and snacks at home for family and friends. 

 

Ages 6-9

Monday-Thursday 11am-1:30pm, Friday 11am-2pm (guest lunch 1:15pm)

1st session: July 12th-16th

2nd session: August 16th-20th

 

Ages 10-13

Monday-Thursday 11am-1:30pm, Friday 11am-2pm (guest lunch 1:15pm)

1st session: June 28th-July 2nd

2nd session: August 2nd-6th

 

Recipes and instruction are specially tailored for your child’s age group. Class size limited to 12 students. Students may invite 1 guest to Day 5.  Invited guests should arrive on Day 5 at 1:15pm. Cost is $250 for the week and includes all food, instruction, and recipes for the week, lunch for 1 guest on day 5, a keepsake apron, and goody bag.  Advance registration and payment required.

Teen Kitchen Bootcamp

 

 

Monday-Friday, July 19th-23rd, 11:30-2:30pm

Ages 14-17, $325

Is your teen a budding gourmet?  Let A NEW DAWN cooking school develop their culinary skills with our summer camp for aspiring teenage chefs.  For students interested in an intense culinary experience, our Teen Kitchen Bootcamp offers in-depth hands-on instruction over a 1 week period. Each class in this series will focus on specific essential cooking methods that will be applied to a variety of delicious and impressive dishes. Teens will move beyond recipes, learn fundamental techniques to build a foundation of invaluable culinary knowledge, and leave with the confidence to prepare delicious meals for friends and family. Cost is $325 for the week and includes a keepsake apron and binder with all recipes and hand-outs.  Advance registration and payment is required. 

Monday: Knife Skills/ Kitchen Equipment

Tuesday: Grilling & Roasting

Wednesday: Sautéing & Frying

Thursday: Braising and Stewing

Friday: Desserts
